CHROFER
Iron chromate
Used in its course from as a blue stain, in its fine form at 2-5% gives grey/brown or black glazes.
It is used to make brown underglaze colors, especially with MnO or ZnO; it should not be used at temperatures above 900°C.
Coated blacks are also obtained with CoO and form a good black colorant by adding clay.
It is a widely used component in the composition of colored slips.
